Jonathan Dinsmore, M.S.

Psychology

A short introduction

Jonathan Dinsmore, M.S., is a psychological scientist and university instructor at the University of Arkansas. His research focuses on non-ordinary states of consciousness and their psycho-social effects, as well as existential beliefs or worldview and their psychological significance. More specifically, Jonathan has made the scientific study of mysticism his main focus, particularly the initiation of mystical luminosity experience as a psychological construct and scientific variable. Methodologically, he specializes in mixed methods, integrating phenomenology into the scientific process, and the theoretical clarification and psychometric validation of novel constructs.

Can there be a scientific form of spirituality?

Jonathan Dinsmore proposes applying the same cautious inferential reasoning used in the scientific method to developing metaphysical beliefs based on first-person experience. This may open the door to a form of spirituality that, although still grounded in personal insight and, therefore, not objective in a strict scientific sense, is nonetheless based on the form of disciplined thinking that has made science so successful.
